The Index-Journal, the 2011 winner of the South Carolina Press Association’s Presidents Cup of Excellence for small daily newspapers, seeks a talented and energetic copy editor/page designer to join its award-winning team.

This family-owned, 13,000-circulation daily newspaper in Greenwood, S.C., was recently awarded a newspaper-record 34 SCPA awards, including the newspaper’s first-ever President’s Cup. And we want more hardware.

The person hired will handle a variety of tasks — copy editing, headline writing, page designing and updating our website.

They’re looking for somebody who understands local news matter and can convey that through eye-catching and reader-friendly presentation.

This is the ideal job for somebody fresh out of college (May/June graduates are encouraged to apply) or a talented journalist looking to make the move up from a weekly, but proven veterans looking to relocate to a charming Southern town are welcome to apply, as well.
